Exclusive: Copyright Labs secures John Doe order, Indian ISPs start blocking Vimeo, Pirate Bay and other torrent sites [update]

Indian ISPs, notably Reliance Communications and Airtel, are blocking sites like Vimeo and torrent sites like Pirate Bay among others. The ISPs are citing “a court order” for the same. Contrary to popular belief that Reliance Entertainment is behind a John Doe order for its big budget movie Dangerous Ishhq, BGR India has exclusively learnt that it is Chennai-based Copyright Labs for two movies, Dhammu (Tamil) and 3 (Telugu). The CEO of Copyright Labs, Harish Ram, has confirmed the same to us.
“We have been fighting for this for long and it seems the ISPs are finally responding,” Ram told BGR India.
However, the ban does not seem to have been implemented uniformly as we can access both Vimeo and Pirate Bay from our Airtel broadband connection.
Update: We have got our hands on a copy of the John Doe order. The order is dated 29th of March, 2012. Hit the link to the get all the details.
