Flipboard
today is rolling out an update to its popular “social magazine” app,
which will bring audio to its users. The update adds an audio section
from where users will be able to listen to music (from SoundCloud),
podcasts as well as content from NPR and PRI.
The update also adds accessibility
feature for visually impaired users by integrating Apple’s VoiceOver
feature to help them to navigate the UI and listen to articles. One tap
on the article section will read aloud the headline while tapping it
twice would read aloud the content.
This is going to be one of the biggest updates for Flipboard and
probably is also the time the company looks out for a new tagline – it
is not just a social magazine anymore. The app is turning out to be a
one-stop destination for everything users would like to read and listen.
Hopefully, the team would add something to watch (videos) sometime
soon.
If you don’t already have Flipboard for your iOS device, you can
download it from the iTunes App Store for free.
