Sony details Jelly Bean update schedule, no update for 2011 Xperia line, 2012 devices to get updated in 2013

Sony has officially announced the Android 4.1 update path for its Xperia line of smartphones. Unfortunately, no device will receive an update to the buttery smooth Jelly Bean experience till 2013. Sony has also
officially intimated that devices from the 2011 family of Xperia phones will not get the update to Jelly Bean.
More importantly it states that the reason for not updating the 2011 line of smartphones is the user experience. It stated that it would not be able to guarantee a good user experience. Of course, this is not a new story as Samsung pulled a similar move with the Ice Cream Sandwich update on the original Galaxy S.
While Sony says that the 2012 smartphones will get the update, there are some notable exceptions like Sony Xperia U, Sony Xperia Sola, Sony Xperia Miro and Sony Xperia Tipo.  Additionally, it states that the Xperia T, Xperia TX and the Xperia V will receive the update in Q1 of 2013. The other smartphones that are in line for an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean are the Xperia S, Xperia Acro S, the Xperia P, Xperia Ion, Xperia Go and Xperia J.
Sony is yet to reveal when exactly these smartphones will receive the update, but it does say that it will happen in 2013, which frankly is not very reassuring.
