Apple has revealed that it has managed to sell three million iPad minis and iPads in the first weekend. This actually is double the amount of the company’s previous record when 1.5 million Wi-Fi only iPads were sold, during launch weekend of the third generation iPad. Apple has not revealed the actual sales figures of the iPad mini or the iPad with retina display,
but has rather clubbed both; nonetheless the numbers look very impressive.
Mind you, the iPad mini and the fourth generation iPad were only announced on October 23 and Apple has not even begun selling the cellular models. In addition to this, when one factors in sales in the East coast which was ravaged by Hurricane Sandy, the numbers indeed look staggering. In fact, the numbers could have been better. Apple on its part says that demand for the iPad mini exceeded its expectations.
