Garmin launches nüvi 40LM and 50LM GPS devices in India

Garmin has entered the Indian market with the launch of nüvi 40LM and 50LM GPS devices. Both these GPS units are to be priced at Rs. 8,450 and Rs. 9,990 respectively.
The devices will come with free maps of Singapore and Malaysia, two of the most visited places by Indian vacationers, according to Garmin. NAVTEQ’s Maps (now Nokia’s Location & Commerce business unit) power Gramin’s portable navigation devices for India. These devices will provide voice guidance in Hindi and English.
The nüvi 40LM features a 4.3-inch display while the nüvi 50LM has a 5-inch display. The devices come with free lifetime maps thus taking away the recurring cost and make the devices much more affordable in the long run.
Some of the unique features of the navigation units include Junction View, which helps drivers avoid last minute manoeuvres. Lane Info guides users to the proper lane for navigation; and Highway Mode tells the user about approaching exits on the highway.
