The report cites supply chains that indicate Apple has placed orders for displays larger than 3.5-inches. It should be noted that Apple has always maintained a 3.5-inch display for the iPhone since its debut in 2007, a policy the company has followed for five generations of the product.
And for a good reason. Unlike many Android smartphones that sport 4.7-inch or larger displays, which are difficult to hold leave aside accessing all parts of the display. Apple’s use of 3.5-inch displays ensures that the device not only fits easily in the palm but the user can also access every edge of the display without shifting the device. It also ensures that the iPhone can be used with one hand, something that is not possible with bigger displays.
According to the report, the next iPhone will go into production in June and will be launched in October, just like the iPhone 4S. Only then will we know for sure whether Apple would break its own rule and follow the herd of super-sized displays.
