The device features a 4-inch TFT display, which runs Sony’s mobile BRAVIA technology and offers a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels. It is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz along with 1GB of RAM. Sony has also packed in a 8-megapixel camera, which can shoot 1080p video and has sweep panorama capabilities. In addition to this, the Xperia P also has 16GB of internal storage, however there is no memory card slot. The device runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but Sony has promised an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Only last week Sony had released mid-end Xperia models – the Xperia U and Xperia Sola. This move might help the company take on the likes of Samsung in the Rs 15,000-Rs 25,000 segment, which currently dominates the smartphone market in India with a plethora of models flooding shelves.
