Images taken using Google’s rumored Nexus tablet pop up on Picasa

Google will supposedly make a play for battle royal in the tablet space once Google I/O kicks of later this month as it is rumored to launch a cost effective Nexus tablet. This tablet is rumored to be manufactured by Asus and today a Google+ user Somit Bh posted a couple of images using the device. The images appeared on Picasa Web albums and the imaging data showed that the images were shot using the Nexus 7.
The images were uploaded at a resolution of 1280×960 pixels which implies that the image was perhaps compressed for the web. While all the user data can be faked, but we think it a legitimate leak as according to the geo tags the images were clicked in Google Building 44 and Somit Bh happens to have a number of Googlers in his circle. In fact, the irony is that the Nexus S also was leaked in a similar way a couple of years ago.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the Nexus tablet should take the Amazon Kindle Fire head-on with a price of around $199, but who knows, if Google is able to scale the price a tad below the $199 mark. Specs wise we expect a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, a Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
