Sony Mobile’s P Balaji joins Nokia India as VP and Managing Director

Nokia has appointed P Balaji as Vice President and Managing Director Nokia India. Previously, D.Shivakumar was heading Nokia India before he was appointed Senior Vice President IMEA Nokia.
In the meanwhile, we have learned that someone from the global Sony Mobile Communications team is joining Sony Mobile Communications India to replace Mr Balaji.
According to the Nokia press release Mr Balaji will be responsible for the growth of Nokia’s mobile phones and smart devices while providing strategic direction and operational focus.
Before Nokia, Mr Balaji was Managing Director of Ericsson India and then he oversaw the transition to the Sony Mobile rebranding in India once the Sony acquisition was complete and he continued to be the Managing Director of Sony Mobile India. P Balaji career spans 22 years and he has held positions in Ericsson, Lucent Technologies, AT&T and Tata group. He is also an electrical engineer for IIT Rookee and has completed his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
