Nokia teaser video hints at wireless charging in new Lumia smartphones

Another day, another teaser video from Nokia. This time, however, Nokia is dropping a massive hint on one of the biggest features of its upcoming Windows Phone 8 running Lumia devices. The video shows a lady taking away a tangled mess of USB and charging cables probably indicating wireless charging and syncing capabilities. The video comes a day after renders of Nokia’s wireless charging pads were leaked on Twitter.

Speculation about wireless charging on Nokia’s new Lumia smartphones first emerged as early as January this year when Nokia’s design chief, Marko Ahtissari, first hinted at the feature in an interview. “If you can take away a moving part and make it [the phone] more beautiful in the placement of the components, we’ll do it, so that’s something where we can certainly keep improving. Take it to the extreme, and why are there any connectors?” Ahtisaari was quoted as saying.
