Facebook announces App Centre, a new place to find social apps

Facebook has announced an app store for social apps, which it calls the ‘App Centre’. Facebook says in the coming weeks people will be able to access this store via the web or its iOS and Android apps, though there is no word on support for the Windows Phone version of the store.
The company is already touting the fact that with its large user base user will have access to apps like Pinterest, Spotify and Draw Something. In order to solve the problem of discovering quality apps, which plagues most app stores, Facebook will use a combination of user rating and engagement to determine the listing of the app on the App Centre.
To drive mobile downloads App Centre will be accessible from its iOS and Android apps. If an app needs to be installed on the device, the App Centre will redirect to either the App Store or the Google Play for downloads. The access to the App Centre will, however happen via the Facebook login.
Developers will need to create an app detail page for it to be listed on the App Centre. App detail pages that are eligible for the App Center will be reviewed prior to being listed and priority will be given to those apps that submit before May 18.
Notably, for developers that have successful in-app purchases, Facebook will enable the option to create a paid app, offering the consumer a flat fee to access all aspects of an app.
