Samsung launches the Galaxy S III in India for Rs 43,180

Yes, finally Samsung’s Jesus android phone has arrived in India. After unveiling the Galaxy S III in London on May 3, today Samsung has released its flagship smartphone for Rs 43,180. Specs wise there are no surprises, the Indian version of the phone is the very same device that was unveiled in London a couple of weeks ago.
The Galaxy S III features a 1.4GHz quad core exynos processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.8 Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, a 8-megapixel camera with zero shutter lag and 1080p video capture and a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera. Additionally, Samsung has equipped the device with a relatively large 2,100 mAh battery, a ultra light and ergonomic design with a finish called “hyperglaze”. Samsung is offering the device in three memory options of 16GB only and at the same time it provides scope for memory expansion via microSDX support for up to 64 GB.
Samsung has also tied up with Vodafone to provide 3GB of data for free for two months.
Unlike many new devices launching in India, the Galaxy S III runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box with the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz overlay which the company now calls TouchWiz Nature UX.
While hardware wise, the Galaxy S III tantamounts to an iterative update, Samsung has done a lot of innovation on the software front.
Some of the unique aspects of new TouchWiz UX include a Siri like voice AI called S-Voice, a NFC feature couple with Wi-Fi direct called S-Beam, an eye tracking feature called Smart Stay, a picture in picture mode called pop up play, a social photo sharing feature called buddy share and a number of nature themed elements in the UI.
