Softbank Mobile launches radiation detecting phone in Japan

Japan’s Softbank Mobile today launched a new Android smartphone that comes with radiation detector. The Pantone 5 107SH smartphone comes with a dedicated button on the lower right corner below the display which triggers the radiation measurement application. This comes a year after Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster.
The Pantone 5 comes in eight color variants and is dust and water proof. It features a 3.7-inch VGA display, Android 4.0 ICS, a 5-megapixel camera and the usual features that most Japanese phones come with like mobile TV and mobile wallet. The phone is expected to be available in Japan in mid-July.
