Just
about five hours remain for Microsoft to take the covers off from its
super secret press conference in Los Angeles and at least one rumor
about what it could be about has been debunked. Barnes & Nobles has
clarified it is not involved in Microsoft’s announcement. However, a new
one has landed at our doorstep with a detailed product specsheet of
what is being marketed as the Microsoft Xbox Surface. Read on for
details.
According to the slide, the Xbox
Surface is a 7-inch tablet with a maximum display resolution of 1280×720
pixels and will come with a stationary companion device (the Xbox, we
feel) that will have 250GB disk drive, 4 USB 3.0 ports and can also
connect with four wireless controllers.

This sounds awfully similar to what SmartGlass was supposed to do, a new project Microsoft had showed off at E3
earlier this month. However rather than having an app that converts
smartphones and tablets into companion devices, this looks like a
stand-alone companion device manufactured by Microsoft.
We are a little skeptical about this considering Microsoft could have
easily shown it off at E3 itself rather than waiting for two weeks and
hosting a press conference, the location for which has just been
revealed to journalists covering it (Milk Studios, Hollywood, if you
wanted to know). Having said that, we have seen stranger things happen
in the past and this could be one of them.
