Sony begins rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich update for Xperia S

Back in April Sony Mobile had launched the Xperia S in India, which was the company’s flagship device for the year 2012, but unfortunately it was missing the latest version of Android. We even pointed it out in our review that this was a major stumbling block. Well, Sony Mobile has come good on its promise of updating the Xperia S to the latest build of Android aka Ice Cream Sandwich.
The 200 MB update brings all the goodness of ICS to the Xperia S including features like Face Unlock, a new multitasking menu, resizable widgets and Data usage monitor. Sony has added some of its own customizations in the mix with a new Album app, an enhanced Walkman app and also a movies application. Sony has even thrown in DLNA support.
Sony has not revealed the markets in which this update is being pushed out to, but if it has come to India we will find out soon enough. Additionally, it is important to note that the update is not an OTA but a rather wired one done over USB using the Xperia Update app for Windows or the PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.
In the meanwhile, head below to check out a Sony Mobile video which details each and every UI change. Sony has even provided a video walkthrough for the update process, which can be found below.
