Apart from launching the low cost Smart Tab 1, Karbonn has launched three new Android smartphones in the country, namely, the A9, A7 and A5.The A9 is the higher end model and it flaunts a 3.8-inch display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels, a 1GHz processor, dual-sim a 1,600 mAh battery, a 5-megapixel auto focus camera, a front facing camera, a microSD card slot and a suite of sensors. The device will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will cost Rs 9,490.
The A7 is a slightly lower end compared to the A9 and it sports a 3.5-inch display with a HVGA resolution, a 800MHz processor, dual-sim, a 5 megapixel camera, a front facing camera, a microSD card slot, a 1,420 mAh battery and a suite of sensors. This device will also run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it will cost Rs 7,490.
The A5 is the cheapest model and it also features a 3.5-inch display with a HVGA resolution, a 800MHz processor, a 2-megapixel rear camera, dual-sim, a microSD card slot, and a 1,420 mAh battery. The device will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will cost Rs 5,790.
Clearly, Karbonn is gunning for the budget Android segment which has of late has seen a sudden influx of new players like Spice which released its Stellar range of smartphones and iBall which launched its Andi range of budget droids. Specs wise all the three devices launched by Karbonn are comparable to the offerings of Spice and iBall, but Spice does also offer slightly higher speced models as well.
