Microsoft Windows 8 will be available on October 26

Microsoft has announced its upcoming Windows 8 operating system will be available on October 26. Steven Sinofsky revealed the launch date at Microsoft’s annual sales meeting today, the company’s largest annual internal event. Earlier, Microsoft had announced Windows 8 would be available in October without revealing the exact date.
This essentially means that hardware vendors would launch their desktops, laptops and tablets running on Windows 8 on October 26 and current Windows users will be able to upgrade to the latest operating system by then. Considering Microsoft had also announced its Surface tablet would be available along with other Windows 8 devices, we are expecting to see the most anticipated Windows 8 product to be launched on the same day. Only the Windows RT version running on an Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset would be available initially with a Windows 8 Pro version running on Intel’s Ivy Bridge chipset launching three months later, some time in the January-February time frame.
