Samsung denies report of its India Head, Ranjit Yadav, quitting [update]

Samsung India’s Mobile and IT Country Head, Ranjit Yadav, is rumored to have quit the company, according to an unconfirmed report on Light Reading India. Yadav had joined Samsung from HP in 2008, where he was the Director for Regional Channel/Distribution Sales and Partner Management for Asia Pacific. However, a Samsung spokesperson dismissed it as a rumor and confirmed Mr Yadav as being “very much heading the Mobile and IT division and has not resigned from the organization” in a statement to BGR India.
Last week, Nokia India stunned the industry when it announced the hiring of Sony Mobile Communications’ P Balaji as its Vice President and Managing Director. Mr Balaji had been the Managing Director of Ericsson India and had joined Sony Mobile Communications’ India unit as its Managing Director almost a year ago.
It was under Mr Yadav that Samsung overtook Nokia as the country’s largest smartphone vendor and is gunning for Nokia’s numero uno spot as the largest cellphone vendor.
UPDATE 1: Multiple sources have confirmed to us that Mr Yadav has put in his papers at Samsung but his resignation has not been accepted, yet. The original Light Reading India suggests he could be joining Apple India, which at the moment are rumors at best.
We are keeping our ears to the ground and will update this post as and when we hear more.
