In
a rare departure from its usual protocol, Qualcomm seems to have
prematurely announced an upcoming LG smartphone that will run on its
Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC. Considering the S4 Pro does not have integrated
cellular connectivity, it is like that this smartphone will combine the
APQ8064 and MDM9615 for 3G/LTE connectivity. Rumors indicate LG is
indeed developing a monsterphone called the Optimus G, which popped up
in benchmarks sometime back. In all probability, this is the same
smartphone that Qualcomm claims will be powered by its S4 Pro quad-core
processor.
Qualcomm says that LG has started
production of the smartphone, which will be available in Korea in
September followed by an international launch. The Optimus G is expected
to sport a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, a 13-megapixel camera and 2GB of
RAM. We reckon LG could announce this smartphone in the coming week as
we inch closer to IFA.
