Reliance telecom to raise call rates by 25%: Report

Reliance telecom is all set to raise its call tariffs by 25 percent if a report by Economic Times is to be believed.
The company is said to be increasing its call rates from 1.2 paise per second to 1.5 paise per second. The move has come after the company shifted its strategy to track average margin per user from tracking average margins per month. Previously, the company had disconnected connections of subscribers who had not used their connections for two months.
Competitors Airtel and Vodafone are also expected to respond in kind, with a tariff hike of their own. This has been the traditional response of the operators. Only recently, Idea Cellular raised its tariffs by 15-20 percent in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. Idea is also expected to raise its call rates through out the country.
