Asus is hosting an event on October 16 in Taipei where it will be unveiling the Padfone 2 for the first time globally. Well, that would have been the case had the company’s CEO, Jerry Shen, had decided not to show it first to Bloomberg TV’s Anant Dwivedi! This is no leaked photograph, amateur hands-on or a partner clicking blurry images but broadcast quality video.
The Padfone 2 sports a larger 4.7-inch HD display, which we reckon would be a 1280×720 pixels display. It is powered by a quad-core processor and has a 13-megapixel camera on the back. Asus has changed the dock in the accompanying tablet a little and has got rid of the flap under which the phone used to fit. Instead, it now docks directly on the rear of the tablet.Of course, the tablet remains a dumb screen, which means it won’t work without the phone docked into it, which is something we are not really fond of and believe it is a waste of hardware.
