Google to partner with Samsung for 10-inch Nexus tablet: Report

Google played it cleverly when it launched the $199 Asus Nexus 7 tablet. It quietly sidestepped the Apple iPad and went for a head-on collision with Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet. While one cannot say that it won that battle, but we can confidently say that Google gained a lot of traction in the tablet market. CNET reports that Google could now be making a plunge for the high-end as well, with a 10-inch Nexus tablet, which will be made by Samsung.

The report goes as far to quote NPD DisplaySearch analyst, Richard Shim, who claims that the 10.1-inch tablet will have a very high-end display with a resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels, which will top the 264 PPi of the new iPad that has a 9.7-inch display with a resolution of 2,048×1,536 pixels. He also states that this particular device will come alongside a $99 Nexus tablet, which will attempt to take over the burgeoning low-cost tablet market.
It’s worth noting that our BGR Classic colleagues also reported about a Samsung tablet with a 2,560×1,600-pixel display in December, but that device never came to fruition. So, one thing for clear, that Samsung does have a display of this nature up its sleeve, its just matter of mass production and a Google branded Nexus tablet will be a good bet considering the unprecedented success seen by the Asus Nexus 7 which is widely considered as the best 7-inch tablet in the market.
Additionally, with Windows 8 breathing down its neck, Google will definitely want some kind of a flagship tablet that would compete with the slew of OEM made Windows 8/ Windows RT tablets.
