Microsoft updates Xbox Music with full Smart Glass support on Windows 8/RT, brings the three screen dream closer than ever

When Microsoft showed off Smart Glass earlier in the year at E3, it hinted at a future where the gaming console was getting transformed into the entertainment hub of the living room. Today, Microsoft has announced that it is updating the Xbox Music app
on Windows 8 with full Smart Glass support. This also means that a variety of apps and services will work seamlessly across three screens – the PC, the smartphone and the TV.  The Smart Glass app will be built in the ‘Games’ section of Windows 8 and Windows RT devices and it will work in tandem with Xbox Music.
Users will be able use the app as a remote of sorts to gain control of the content they are viewing via the Xbox 360 or even beam content on the Xbox 360. Users will also be able to use Smart Glass as an extension of the content that is already being viewed. So if one is watching a Star Trek movie, one will be able to identify the characters and actors and gain more related information on the second screen in question, which can either be a tablet or a smartphone.
Additionally users will also be able to control their games via the Smart Glass companion app and users will also have the ability to control Internet Explorer on the Xbox via this app. In fact users will be able to use their smartphone keyboard for input and pinch-to-zoom gestures performed on the smartphone or tablet will be translated on the larger canvas.
