Apart from doubling down on its Windows Phone smartphone portfolio, Nokia has announced two new feature phones – The Asha 308 and the Asha 309 as a part of the Asha line of feature phones based of series 40 platform.
Specs wise both the phones use 3-inch scratch resistant capacitive displays and 2-megapixel cameras. Another facet of these new Asha devices is the new Nokia Xpress Browser that uses cloud compression techniques to make browsing fast while consuming 90 percent less data.
The 308 and 309 also come preloaded with a number of social networking tools to stay connected with ones friends on Facebook, Twitter and also the WhatsApp messenger. Perhaps, the inclusion of Nokia Maps 2.0 is the biggest USP of these devices, a feature which actually warrants the smartphone status of these devices, which is something that Nokia touts.
As with the previously launched Asha 305, Asha 306 and Asha 311, Nokia preloads both the phones with 40 EA Games including Tetris, Fifa 2012 and Need for Speed. Additionally one can even download 22 classic games from the Nokia store by Namco that includes games like Ridge Racer, Pac-Man and Final Fantasy.
Both the phones will be launched in Q4 and Nokia is targeting a price point of $99 (Rs 5,292) excluding taxes and subsidies.
