RIM reports a loss of $235 million, ships only 7.4 million smartphones in Q2

RIM has posted its Q2 financial report on which it claims a loss of $235 million on revenues of $2.9 billion. It also reported that only 7.4 million smartphones were shipped and only 130,000 PlayBook tablets were shipped.

The good news for RIM out here is that the losses were less than Q1 when the company lost more than $500 million and this time around the company has not further delayed the launch of its BB10 platform from Q1 to 2013.
It is worth noting that RIM’s cash reserves have in fact gone up from Q1’s $2.2 billion to $2.3 billion in Q2.
