Microsoft said to be testing its own smartphone: WSJ

Back in June Microsoft shocked the world and its partners alike when it announced its first computing hardware product called the Surface. With Windows Phone failing to gain traction many have predicted that Microsoft may adopt a similar strategy for Windows
Phone. Even our collogues are BGR Classic had pointed towards the same, but today WSJ has published a story which claims that Microsoft is actually testing a smartphone with its Asian suppliers.
It is not known when the company would actually deploy the product or if it’s just toying with the idea of a Surface phone. Microsoft is already lending massive marketing support to HTC and Nokia with Windows Phone 8 so perhaps this phone will not see light of day in 2012.
The Verge on the other hand believes that a Surface phone for Microsoft could be ‘Plan B’ if their OEM partners fail, but they also admit that those plans could be more further along than they believed so to be.
