Idea reduces 3G rates by up to 70 percent and launches new sachet plans

Idea Cellular, today announced up to 70 percent price reduction on its 3G services. Idea prepaid and postpaid customers will now pay 3p/10 KB of data, a reduction of 70 percent from the earlier rates of 10p/10KB.  This news comes after Airtel announced a reduction of prices in its 3G plans last week.
The company has also launched its new pricing in sachet packs, regular packs and unlimited packs. Idea’s new sachet pack of Rs 10, will now offer 30 minutes of internet surfing. Another pack, called the “HERO-25” is a sachet pack that will give 100 MB data with 3 days validity at just Rs 25.
Idea is also offering 1GB of data download at Rs 250 for home and SoHo internet users.  Home internet user will be offered  21.1 Mbps on their 2 Mbps speed of their wire line broadband. For professionals and corporates, Idea has unlimited plan  priced at Rs 950.
When one compares Idea’s new 3G plans to Airtel’s revised prices, one can easily notice that Idea has matched all the prices offered by Airtel. But, in doing so, Idea is also offering more plans at many different price points to its customers. This way Idea is able to plug holes at many price points, in comparison Airtel is not offering so many plans at different price points.
