Google and Apple have been going through a rocky patch every since Google’s Android OS gained a substantial chunk of the market and many expected Apple to drop Google services where ever it could. A classic example of this is of course the iOS version of iPhoto which now utilizes OpenStreet Maps.
The new Mapping app is said to be the headlining feature in iOS 6 and will be very similar to the current Maps application. The app is said to have a Street View like 3D mode which has been developed by C3 Technologies.
Apple has even redesigned the logo of the app icon, with now the icon showing Apple’s 1 Infinite Loop Campus. As far as Google is concerned, only last year it renewed its deal with Apple for powering the maps apps on iOS, but it now seems like that was a stop gap measure for the time Apple developed its own solution. Of course, this should not come as a surprise and we are pretty sure Google knew this was a long time coming.
