BlackBerry 10 gets Siri like voice commands in latest beta

Research In Motion is adding new features to its BlackBerry 10 (BB10) platform with every new beta as it works towards making the operating system up and ready by the end of this year. The latest BB10 beta update, which was pushed to developers earlier this week, has added voice commands just like Siri!
The new voice command feature can be accessed by pressing the voice command button between the two volume buttons in the developer alpha device. Considering it is still an early beta, the feature has limited functionality but as N4BB demonstrates, it has a universal search apart from calling and sending text messages to contacts. Understandably, it is still not ready for prime time but it sounds very similar to Siri including the beep alert between commands.
It is unclear who is powering the voice recognition but we wouldn’t be surprised if it is Nuance. After all, Apple acquired Siri from Nuance and it is still among the best in the business when it comes to voice recognition.
