LG launches Optimus L7, L5 and L3 Android smartphones in India

Apart from, the Tegra 3 powered Optimus 4X HD, LG Mobile has launched three more smartphones in India today. The three devices – the L7, L5 and L3 – fill the void LG faces in the lower to mid-range segments of the smartphone market in the country, as its current offerings are admittedly not up to scratch.
The L7 for starters flaunts a 4.3-inch display Nova display with a WVGA resolution, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera with flash and 4GB of internal storage. It also runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a layering of the LG Optimus UI 3.0 and will cost Rs 19,900. Specs wise, the L7 competes favorably with the HTC One V which has been doing very well in the market and also the soon to be launched Sony Xperia Neo L. However, if Ice Cream Sandwich is not a prerequisite then there are a multitude of smartphones like Sony Xperia U that offer better specs at much less price points.
The L5 on the other hand is priced in at Rs 13,199 and features a 4-inch HVGA display with a resolution of 320×480 pixels, a 800 MHz processor and a 5-megapixel camera with flash. It also runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with LG’s Optimus UI 3.0 and also becomes one of the cheapest Android smartphones in the country from a global brand to offer Android 4.0.
Lastly, the L3 is the cheapest and smallest of the lot as it features a 3.2-inch display with a resolution of 240×320 pixels and costs Rs 8,895. Other features of the smartphone include a 800MHz processor and a 3-megapixel camera. The L3 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. At Rs 8,895, the L3 could face stiff competition from local brands like Spice, Micromax and Karbonn, all which offer devices that steamroll the L3 in terms of specs. However, we are inclined to believe that L3 will do the same to its local competition in terms of build quality.
