He claims that the displays are being made by Samsung, LG Display and Sharp. He believes Apple will not face any production issues with the 13.3-inch of Retina MacBook Pro because the production volume of the 13.3-inch panel is said to be substantially higher than the 15.4-inch panel.
While the volumes for the 15.4-inch model was said to be a few hundred thousand, the 13.3-inch display will be around two million. He further states that if the yields are beyond 70 percent then production of a million units should not be a problem and considering the slightly smaller and lower resolution, this may work.
Additionally he said that production of such a display for Samsung is not a problem as they had earlier manufactured the Retina Display for the new iPad.
One should also note that the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro Retina would start at a much cheaper price point that will make it safer to target high volumes because the price will attract more consumers. The 15.4-inch MacBook Pro Retina has an astronomical entry price of Rs 1,52,900.
