Previously, last year the iPhone 4S was unveiled on October 4, only a day before the passing away of Apple’s legendary co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs and was available for pre-order by October 7. The device had gone up for sale by October 14 and the second wave of the international release happened by October 28.
Apple is not only expected to launch a new iPhone, but also a revamped iPod Touch and a iPad mini. Apple’s September events have traditionally been iPod centric events, but due the dwindling importance of its portable music player and the delayed launch of the iPhone 4S, Apple was forced to host the event in October last year.
