Nikon’s Android powered S800c camera to be available in India by October

Nikon India has announced that the S800c Android powered camera will be available in India in October 2012. The company is yet to announce the pricing for India and will only announce the price of the product in September. The S800c was launched in the US yesterday for $350.
On the face of it the S800c is pretty run of the mill point and shoot as it features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, a f/2.3 aperture with 10x optical zoom, 1080p video, 3.5-inch OLED display and 25mm to 250mm focal range. The fact that the camera has built-in Wi-Fi and runs on Google Android 2.3 gingerbread OS, makes it a very unique product indeed as it has access to wide variety of applications from the Google Play market. This means that users will be able to edit their images using popular applications like Instagram or Pixlr-O-Matic and share them on social networks like Facebook or a photo sharing service like Flickr directly of the camera itself.
Apart from the S800c, Nikon will also release the CoolPix L7770 extended zoom camera which is the flagship prosumer camera made by Nikon. Other products that will be launched by Nikon include the CoolPix L610, CoolPix S6400 and the CoolPix S01. All these products will be available in India by October 2012.
