Samsung announces the ATIV S, the world’s first Windows Phone 8 smartphone

Apart from the Galaxy Note II, Samsung has announced the ATIV S, which becomes the world’s first Windows Phone 8 smartphone. The device has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display reinforced with Gorilla Glass II, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor which works in tandem with 1GB of RAM and it will be available in 16GB and 32GB flavors.
The smartphone will also have a 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera, and has 2,300 mAh battery along with a microSD card slot. The smartphone is also extremely thin at just 8.7mm.
Basically, for the part Samsung has tried to mimic the specifications of the Galaxy S III, but in a Windows Phone avatar and too some extent one can argue that the ATIV S also borrows its heritage from the Galaxy S III. Samsung is yet announce general availability and pricing of the device, but October will not be an far fetched assessment.
