Sony announces Vaio Duo 11 Windows 8 hybrid

Sony today announced its first Windows 8 hybrid, the Vaio Duo 11 that runs on Intel’s silicon, which means users will get the full Windows experience including support for legacy apps. It was leaked a couple of days ago and is a little different from the Microsoft Surface as the Vaio Duo 11 comes with an attached keyboard that slides back for a tablet experience. It will come in three variants running on Intel’s i3, i5 or i7 processors. Read on for more details.
Weighing 1.3kgs, the Duo 11 features a 11.6-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) touchscreen display, a USB 3.0 port, VGA and HDMI output ports and options for 128GB or 256GB SSD drives. On the connectivity front we are looking at Wi-Fi, an ethernet port and a SD/memory Stick Duo combined port. Sony is also talking about a pressure sensitive stylus with configurable settings for pressure sensitivity.
Sony has not announced the pricing of the Vaio Duo 11 but it will be launched later this October along with other Windows 8 machines.
