Apart from new iPods and the iPhone 5, Apple has released the EarPod earphone for its mobile devices, which replaces the iconic white Apple earphones.
The EarPod features a new acoustically-tuned design on which Apple claims to provide significantly better sound quality more akin to higher-end earphones.
Apple says that the EarPods have been designed in such a way that they fit varying people easily and the new speaker grills are designed to direct sound inside the ear. Apple claims to provide better mid-range and low-end performance. These were two key areas where the older Apple earphones lacked and they typically had a very sizzling sound signature.
The new EarPods also are better protected against sweat and water, so it will be a boon for people who often use their iPods during a workout. As with the previous generation earphones, the EarPod comes with an inline remote for controlling volume and playback. Apple is already shipping the EarPod along with the iPhone 5, the new iPod touch and the iPod nano, but it can also be purchased as a standalone accessory for $29.
