Google Drive updated for Android, iOS; comes with document editor

Google today updated its Drive mobile app for Android and iOS. Now users can edit documents in the iOS app and can see changes made by other users in real-time. Users on both Android and iOS can now also view presentations stored on Google Drive and swipe through slides, see them in full screen mode and also see speaker notes.

Android users will be able to view and add comments. The update also brings the ability to view tables in a document. Google is planning to bring native spreadsheet editing in a future update that will make the erstwhile Google Docs a more feature rich online productivity suite. Google acquired QuickOffice in June and this update seems to be a result of that acquisition.
Google Drive now also enables users to store photographs and videos directly from their phones to their Drive accounts, which justifies why Google changed the brand from Docs to Drive.
