A couple of weeks ago we reported about Nokia Lumia 510, a low-end Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone that is in the works. Today, GSMArena has managed to get its hands on the device itself and has posted a photograph of the phone in question.
As reported before, the Lumia 510 runs on Windows Phone 7.5 and has 4-inch display, 4GB of internal memory and only 256 MB of RAM, which points towards it utilizing the lowered system requirements introduced in Windows Phone Tango update.
According to the report, Nokia is targeting a price of $150 (approximately Rs 7,900) and will launch it first in China, which is the largest Windows Phone market in the world. The global release should be followed around the December holiday season.
It is interesting to see Nokia jump into this price bracket because it competes with the Asha series. Perhaps, Nokia intends to further lower the price points of the Asha series and make the Lumia 510 an entry point to the Windows Phone ecosystem.
If this comes to fruition, then Nokia will not only be competing with its own product line up but a deluge of low-cost Android OEMs like Micromax, Spice, ZTE and many more, however this could definitely help Nokia ramp up Windows Phone sales. But what remains to be seen is whether the phone is able to perform on such meager resources.
