Nuance reportedly working on Siri live voice commands for smartphones in sleep-mode


It is a pretty well known fact that Nuance is a pioneer in the field of voice-recognition. Its Dragon Dictation app has been legendary on
Windows and more recently on iOS and Android their Dragon Go app has been critically acclaimed. Apple’s ‘Siri’ even uses the Nuance engine. But Nuance plans to take its voice-recognition chops to a whole new level. Talking to the MIT Technology Review, Nuance CEO Vlad Sejnoha revealed that activating a phone and then using voice recognition inhibits seamless use of voice in both Siri and Dragon Go. He revealed that currently his company was working on solving the problem.
Mr Sejnoha revealed that Nuance was ‘actively’ working with chipmakers, so that a phone could be on the lookout for speech all the time. Some of the critical challenges he pointed towards included power drain. He said the technology was not far away and we could see it in a year or two.
