TomTom updates India maps for over 5,000 cities and towns

TomTom has announced that it has updated its India maps for over 5,000 cities and towns and lane-guidance for over 3,000 intersections. TomTom says that its Landmark Navigation feature helps users easily
find notable monuments and places of attractions and its 2D work in 10 Indian cities and provide an immersive and detailed mapping experience.
Additionally, for Delhi NCR and Chandigarh, it has added Address points that can accurately locate millions of addresses. Even points of interests have been updated and now TomTom provides four million points of interest in 62 different categories such as petrol pumps, restaurants and etc.
While the updates are definitely interesting, one wonders if all these improvements in the TomTom back-end will trickle down to users of iOS 6 and Apple Maps as Apple’s Maps solution also sources its data from TomTom.
