Microsoft releases WP 8 companion app for Windows 8

Microsoft has released a Windows Phone 8 app for Windows 8. This comes as Microsoft gears up for the Windows Phone 8 launch that will happen later tonight. The Windows Phone 8 basically
replicates a lot of the functionality found in the Zune app, which has now been discontinued. The Windows Phone 8 app will act like a syncing client for Windows Phone 8 smartphones.
The app will let users sync music, videos, contacts and photos, things that one expects of a syncing app like iTunes for the iPhone. Notably, as the app is based on the Modern UI it will work on both Windows 8 and Windows RT. The app can be currently be downloaded from the Windows Store, but as of now one cannot do much with it considering there are no Windows Phone 8 devices in the market.
