Back at Computex 2012, Asus showcased a ‘crazy’ notebook/tablet hybrid, which it dubbed the Taichi. The reason we used the word ‘crazy’ was because of its dual touch 11.6-inch
display setup. Now, Asus has brought the Taichi to India and at a staggering price of Rs 1,39,999.
When one opens the laptop it may seem like a standard slim Windows 8 UltraBook, but the moment one puts down the lid, one will be welcomed by another touch-screen. In fact, both screens work simultaneously and both have Full HD 1080p resolutions.
Underneath the hood there is a lot of firepower. Asus uses Intel’s latest Core i7 and i5 CPUs, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 128GB and 256GB solid-state memory options and even has twin cameras a 5-megapixel rear camera and a web camera with a 720p video capabilities. As expected, it runs Windows 8.
It is extremely light and weighs only 1.25 Kgs and is only 17.4 mm thin at its thinnest point. Graphically, it is just about adequate as there is not discrete GPU and it utilizes Intel’s integrated graphics, which is not too bad for casual gaming.
