Over the past few weeks there have been some rumblings about Skype permanently replacing Microsoft’s ageing Windows live messenger service. Today Microsoft has
officially confirmed that Windows live messenger will be retired and Skype will replace it as the company’s messaging service in 2013.
Notably, Microsoft will integrate the 100 million Windows live messenger users to Skype as a part of the migration. In fact Microsoft is actively encouraging users to download the latest version of Skype where it will help users unify their Skype and Messenger accounts into one unified Microsoft account. Skype will assist users to transition from Windows live messenger in the coming months.
