Samsung Galaxy S III sales to top 10 million units in July

Samsung is expecting the sales of its Galaxy S III to cross 10 million units sometime in July, Reuters is quoting Samsung’s head of mobile division, JK Shin. The Galaxy S III was first launched on May 29 in Europe followed by a global roll-out that is still underway.
The Galaxy S III would become Samsung’s fastest selling smartphone and will top 10 million units in less than two months. The Korean handset vendor, which is also the world’s largest smartphone seller, had earlier announced it had received over nine million pre-orders from carriers globally for the Galaxy S III. Samsung timed the launch to perfection and took advantage of Apple’s new iPhone launch cycle, which now happens in October rather than June.
Samsung also managed to create unprecedented hype for a non-iPhone smartphone by keeping the device under wraps and taking Apple-like precautions while testing the phone internally and with carriers. The pre-launch hype coupled with good reviews (read our Galaxy S III review here) have ensured that Samsung has a hit on its hand. Mind you, it will still have at least two months more after crossing the 10 million milestone before the new iPhone is launched.
