The Windows Phone Marketplace has crossed the 100,000 apps barrier today and currently there are 100,145 apps, however currently only 88,371 apps are available for download in 60 countries reports
All About Windows Phone. Windows Phone has achieved this mark in just 20 months.
Out of these apps, 26,493 have been added in the last three months and 9,391 were added in the last month. Cynics have often criticized Windows Phone for its weak apps ecosystem, however the momentum behind app development for the platform has been incredible when compared with Android, both of which took four months longer to cross the 100,000 app barrier. iOS in comparison took 16 months to cross the 100,000 app barrier.

Just to give some perspective to the growth of the apps ecosystem, Windows Phone had reached the 50,000 in December 2011, and in just about five months the number of apps has doubled. On an average Windows Phone gains around 313 application per day, which is a month on improvement from April and a staggering improvement from May 2011.
