Google Search broken on Chrome, work-around fix available

Users of the latest version of Google’s Chrome browser are facing an issue where doing a Google search from the omnibar (URL bar) is leading to a blank page. The issue has been plaguing users for a few hours now and is affecting both Mac and PC users. At the time of filing, Google is yet to issue a fix or acknowledge the issue. (We will update this post as we get more details.) However, there is a work-around available to fix the glitch.
The Next Web has found a fix (via Brian Glasshouse) that involves changing the default search engine on Chrome and tweaking some settings.
Click the wrench icon and navigate to “Settings.” Under the Search section, click “Manage Search Engines” and do the following:
1. Set any other brower as your default. This will allow you to delete “Google”
2. Under Other Search Engines, simply add Google again, but within the URL section type “https://www.google.com/search?q=%s”
3. Make Google the default once again
