Mac OS X Mountain Lion downloaded 3 million times in 4 days

Apple today announced the latest version of its Mac OS X, Mountain Lion, had been downloaded over 3 million times in four days since its release. This, according to Apple, has been the most successful Mac OS X release in the company’s history. Mountain Lion is available for $19,99 and can be downloaded directly from the Mac App Store for Lion or Snow Leopard users. Those who have bought a Mac on or after June 11 are eligible for a free upgrade to Mountain Lion.
“Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
Mountain Lion brings over 200 new features but more importantly brings better synchronization with iOS devices by embracing many core iOS features. Users will be able to sync documents and files between their Macs and iOS devices using iCloud and also access iMessages across devices. It also brings deep integration with Twitter, just like iOS, and a similar Facebook integration will be provided in a future update, probably timed with the launch of iOS 6. Safari has also been improved and is now significantly faster than competing browsers and gets the sharing features too.
