Mozilla Firefox OS revealed

Back at the Mobile World Congress, Mozilla showed off its cloud based ‘Boot to Gecko’ project, which was essentially a cloud based mobile OS based on HTML 5. Recently, TechWeeklyEurope got their hands on a bunch of screenshots of the OS and things look to be on schedule for a launch next year.
By the looks of the screenshots, the OS includes everything one would expect of a modern smartphone platform – a call dialer, calendar, texts, web browser, and a camera app. Mozilla claims the OS will be lighter and faster than competing open platforms like Android, but that clearly remains to be seen.
Additionally, our colleagues at BGR Classic have noted that the interface is extremely similar to iOS, which might catch the eye of Apple’s lawsuit hungry lawyers. However, Mozilla has rebutted that the UI shown is an early prototype and the final product will have a different UI and it will soon share screenshots.
