Penguin India joins E-Book bandwagon, offers books on Kindle and iBooks

Penguin India has announced that it is joining the e-book brigade and it has released 240 books on most of the popular e-book stores which includes Amazon’s Kindle store, Apple’s iBooks, Kobo, Google, Ebooks.com, Sony, Overdrive, baker & taylor and gardens. This makes it the most extensive list of available Indian ebooks available internationally.
The 240 books published consist of best sellers from a backlist and new books from 2012. Penguin plans on continuing publishing its backlist and will make simultaneous print and eBook additions.
Penguin for the time being says that it will sell the ebooks through the international stores at global prices, however says that once the ebook market develops, it will adopt a local pricing structure for the market.
