Windows Phone 8 gets button combination to take screen shots

The ability to take screen shots started initially as a way to help developers and beta testers but soon turned mainstream after Apple introduced the simple ‘Homescreen + Power Button’ key combo to take shots from an iPhone. It turned out that not just developers but even regular users wanted to take screen shots of text messages, web pages, games and much more. Taking screen shots on Android used to be a pain initially as it required downloading the SDK and plugging the phone to the PC. Things became convenient recently with Android ICS. Now it seems like Windows Phone 8 will also get the feature to take screen shots using a combination of keys, something that was not possible with Windows Phone 7.5.
Chinese site WPDang (spotted by WPSauce) is reporting that Windows Phone 8 users will be able to take screen shots using the ‘Windows key + camera button’ combination. That’s great news for Windows Phone but on a personal note I’m a little disappointed. The Windows key in most phones is a virtual button, which in my experience does not work well for key combinations. Even many Android smartphones use a combination that involves a virtual button, an art that I have failed to master. Nevertheless, there are many people I know who don’t find it difficult at all.
